沁州南瓜籽产于太行、太岳两山之间的黄土丘陵区山西省沁县。地理坐标东径112”28’至112’54’，北纬36’26’至36’59’，是优质动、植物生长的最佳域位。沁县水多土好山绿，没有任何污染，堪称“天然氧吧”。被国家有关部门检测认定为“中国绿色名县”、“中国最具特色魅力县”、“无公害农产品生产区域”、“中国小米之乡”。独特的自然气候条件造就了沁州南瓜籽营养非常丰富。清朝大学士兼刑部尚书吴典回家控亲返京时，挑选上好的沁县南瓜籽进贡康熙，康熙吃后十分高兴，便欣然写道：“沁州三件宝：核桃、瓜籽、吴阁老”，至此，瓜籽就成了沁县的三大宝之一。沁县人吃南瓜籽证明：每天吃上50克左右的南瓜籽，可有效地防治前列腺疾病，经医学临床证明，这是由于前列腺的分泌激素功能要依靠脂肪酸，而南瓜籽就富含脂肪酸，可使列腺保持良好功能；所含的活性成分可消除前列腺炎初期的肿胀，同时还有预防前列腺癌的作用。
