平顺大红袍花椒历史悠久，是全国最早栽培花椒的地区。早在唐代就开始种植，元、明年间被作为贡品。1997年平顺县被国家农业部、国家科协命名为“中国大红袍之乡”。花椒特点：皮厚、色泽鲜红、香味扑鼻，是烧菜的上等佳品。在烹调、腌制方面是必不可少的调味品之一。有“平顺花椒十里香”的美誉。
