广灵五香瓜子是当之无愧的广灵乃至大同的重要名产。是国家农业部认定的地理标志保护产品。广灵种瓜子、炒瓜子的习惯可追溯到明代。当时沿广灵壶流河两岸土地肥沃，气候适宜。所产葵花品质好，产量高。人们炒瓜子的习惯也就形成了。白家炒瓜子是从清朝乾隆年间开始。白家炒出好瓜子的四大要点是:1、精选原料。广灵五香瓜子所用原料是广灵三道眉，黑白相间，从正面看三条白道，故称“三道眉”。它的好处是，易脱皮，品质佳。从观感、口感、营养上说皆为上乘。2、家传配方。白家的调料配方是几代人不断探索，反复比较摸索，多年积累总结出来的。3、合理静置。广灵五香瓜子是脱皮瓜子，煮后要脱皮，脱掉外层包衣后，为了入味，要静置两天。以达到瓜子进一步入味的效果。4、铁锅放细砂炒制。铁锅、细砂、木炭。
