1.外在感官特征：闻喜莲藕为浅水藕，根茎横生，肥厚，节间膨大，主藕一般3-4节，一般根生60-80cm，节间长15—20cm，直径6-8cm，内有多数纵行通气孔洞。与异地品种比较，闻喜莲藕外皮光滑，呈银白色，粗壮肥大，无渣，少丝，生藕吃起来口感脆甜，更神奇的是通气孔洞比其他品种多一个孔洞。
2.内在品质指标：闻喜莲藕营养丰富，含有淀粉，维生素C以及其他微量元素，其中水分为73-76%，淀粉含量15-16.5%，维生素C55.8-57.6 mg，可食性纤维9.7-10.2%，粗多糖1.3-1.5%，总黄酮0.06-0.08%。
3.安全要求：根据无公害食品水生蔬菜NY/5238-2005产业标准以及无公害食品NY5010-2006蔬菜类产品产地环境条件，以及GB4285农药安全使用准则，GB/T8321农药合理使用准则等相关标准和要求。
